Economic and Social Relaunch of Northwest Provinces in Cambodia
The project is set out to substantially reduce poverty in the three provinces by tackling a range of social and economic problems in ways that will promote sustainable development for the rural population.
The five-year project will result in increased and diversified agriculture and fisheries, development of new employment opportunities and the empowerment of local communities and rural infrastructure (roads, irrigation, domestic water supply). It will also improve access to markets and arable land through facilitation of the provision of land titles, establishment of a mine risk reduction programme integrated with the commune development plans, and mine clearance activities linked with the implementation of the project.
The overall objective of the project is to contribute to poverty reduction through increased household income, particularly through increased agricultural sector productivity, and increased local community empowerment in selected rural areas of Cambodia.
